Wildlife and Wellbeing Project Coordinator

Hourly rate: £14 per hour
Hours of work: 10-14 to be negotiated at interview
Annual leave: 30 days per year pro rata

In operating Jubilee Farm, the first community-owned farm in Northern Ireland, we produce a range of high-quality, agroecological food that is healthy, humane, fair and sustainable, while also providing a series of care farming, and conservation education and engagement services, that inspire, inform and benefit those who take part in them.
Project description:
In summary, the project will:
- Regenerate 1 woodland, 2 meadows and their surrounding hedgerows with conservation grazing & other heritage farming techniques.
- Create 1 biodiversity volunteer group from the local community & local churches to monitor and manage the farm’s natural heritage, including training and equipping them.
- Run 12 day courses on a) natural heritage management skills and b) natural heritage and wellbeing linkages.
- Welcome local school and community groups for ‘Taster Tours’ to discover the farm’s natural heritage, and the links to wildlife and wellbeing.
- Deliver natural heritage management activities with ethnic minority groups and involve them in restoring the natural heritage of Jubilee Farm over the duration of the project.
- Create more and better access routes into and through the natural heritage at Jubilee Farm.
- The project has been running since November 2021 and so the appointed person will be continuing to deliver the outcomes outlined above.
Role overview
The part-time project coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the ‘Wildlife and Wellbeing at Jubilee Farm’ project. They will also be responsible for recruiting and coordinating volunteers for the project. They will lead on, report to and liaise with the Farm Manager regarding the implementation, assessment and reporting of the project. The role will include a significant amount of work on Saturdays, especially between April and September.
Role description
The Wildlife and Wellbeing project coordinator role will involve:
- Liaising with, assisting and supervising contractors regarding project capital works.
- Establishing, equipping and coordinating the biodiversity volunteer group.
- Liaising with and hosting ethnic minority, school and community groups for tours and/or activities.
- Hosting wildlife and wellbeing workshops, in partnership with external providers.
- Creating and integrating stories and other communications materials from the project into our regular communications, including our monthly email newsletter and social media channels.
- Organising a Bioblitz Festival of Wildlife and Wellbeing in June 2024.
- Collecting natural and social science data on project impact.
- Leading on, liaising and working with the Farm Manager regarding the management, assessment and reporting of the project.
- Contributing to the overall organisational effectiveness and to perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Farm Manager.
Essential criteria:
- Undergraduate degree in conservation, geography or equivalent..
- Experience of working with and/or managing groups and/or volunteers.
- Willingness to work within Jubilee’s Christian ethos.
- A motivated, flexible and innovative approach to work, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable criteria:
2 years experience of running community-based conservation projects or equivalent
- Postgraduate degree in conservation, geography or equivalent.
- Project management experience.
- Experience of natural and/or social science research.
